The Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) – formerly Coronary Health Improvement  Project – is an affordable, lifestyle enrichment program designed to reduce disease risk factors through the adoption of better health habits and appropriate lifestyle modifications. The goal is to lower blood cholesterol, hypertension, and blood sugar levels and reduce excess weight. This is done by improving dietary choices, enhancing daily exercise, increasing support systems and decreasing stress, thus aiding in preventing and reversing disease.

Lifestyle Medicine Course Syllabus

Lifestyle Medicine Course Syllabus, presented by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, is based on the foundational work of ACLM Board Member Beth Frates, MD, who created the lifestyle medicine course at Harvard Extension School, available to undergraduate, master, and other professional students interest in health and wellness. This course has consistently been one of the most popular courses at Harvard Extension.

Starting with a focus in the health sciences, now brings over 5 years of uniquely offering courses for credit for free, registrants in over 190 countries, a $16 million endowment, and funders and partners including CDCHarvardNATOStanford, and WHO.  This free model has been tested in North American medical and public health students, and in community health workers and primary care physicians in Kenya, with as much knowledge gain and greater student satisfaction than with traditional courses, positive effects on complex health worker behaviors (like counselling) and attitudes (like stigma), and the creation of a global community of learning and practice. is ready to offer our ultimate goal, the world’s first free degrees: MDs, Masters’ in Public Health, and residencies (in Pediatrics and in Preventive and Family Medicine).  Courses are competency-based currently ranging from undergraduate and community health worker training, through Graduate and Continuing Medical Education, and include a global peer community of practice, and local skills-oriented mentorships.

The Lifestyle Medicine Core Competency Online Program is a CME accredited, evidence-based program designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for doctors as well as nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, health coaches, and other allied health professionals with an interest in learning the basic foundational principles of lifestyle medicine. Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is available for select medical specialties.
